Classics is the study of the history, literature, and material culture of the Greek and Roman Mediterranean from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity. It is a subject which inspired the Renaissance and remains central to understanding modern European culture and society. Art History interprets the art of different ages, assesses its meaning, development, context and quality. Students study systems of formal analysis such as composition, style or iconography; patronage and social context; conceptual and historical analysis. Archaeology uses past material culture and landscapes to reconstruct human lives. Students of archaeology learn interdisciplinary, creative approaches to understanding human societies past and present and explore the key events that have shaped history.
